To the Publishers;

Forgive me for not paying attention to your web-site, however for the better part of two years I've been working diligently to create a new theatre venue in our community. Steeped in the massive undertaking of raising funds and building a state of the art theatre, I've been out of the loop on many of the new theatre happenings.

Having been prompted to your sight by a current review of BEYOND THERAPY, I've taken the time to read other reviews provided by the various "peer" reviewers. I must say that the whole concept of theatre artists reviewing other artists is disheartening. Artists by their very nature should respect one another and without exception hold their criticisms to themselves. If intent is to be constructive then it appears you have strayed away from the very nature of your vision.

I'm of the firm belief that you have created a destructive environment with these reviews.

It's unfortunate that A.S Waterman felt the urge to include the following comment in the review of BEYOND THERAPY: "Bunbury needs a reminder that a theatre company is equal parts creative venture and business operation, and that one can't survive without the other. As for Beyond Therapy, it's an awful play about some awful people who go out of their way to get into awful situations. Don't follow suit. Wait for Bunbury's next offering in the fall."

Regardless of how any critic feels about any production, it is imperative that a potential patron make their own judgement how to spend their entertainment dollars.

In the midst of a major undertaking we need no reminders about our business. Had the reviewer taken the time to contact me directly and to talk about the nature of opening up a new venue and mounting a production at the same time, such judgements might have been held in silence.

On your homepage A.S Waterman writes: "Most of all, I hope that everyone's upcoming season will continue to build on the wonderful spirit of this year's -- always mutually supportive, never competitive, and dedicated to making Louisville area theatre the best anywhere." Mutually supportive does not mean trashing a production, deameaning an organization or furthering ones cause by negative assesments.

Please remove the current review of BEYOND THERAPY from your website.

Sincerely,

Juergen K. Tossmann
