Nunsense
was Non-Stop By Joe Monroe, II
If you didn't know, around the corner from one of Indiana's well known playhouses is a gem of a theater, namely Clarksville Little Theatre (CLT). Currently, CLT is running a very funny show called Nunsense. This show is filled with comedy. "Nunsense" exists because the nuns from Mt. Saint Helen school in Hoboken, New Jersey, had a need to raise money to finish burying some of their sisters who had a fatal "last supper," thus resulting in a series of stories, songs and dance.
Mike Seely directs Dan Goggins' Nunsense almost seamlessly, but this would not have been possible without such a great cast. The show's most memorable character is Sister Amnesia (Kaitlyn Marie Peace). Her wonderful voice and stage antics kept the plot moving. Sister Robert Ann (Candace Kresse) and Sister Hubert (Carrie Cooke) are also standout characters. Sister Hubert's laugh is one you won't forget. As I stated early on, this show was "almost" seamless. It would have been perfect if the audio system had been better. There are live musicians in the show, and their music drowned out most of the solos. It was okay when the entire ensemble sang, but the solos were hard to hear. The only other thing I regret is not boning up on my Catholicism. Some of the jokes went over my head but were enjoyed by those devout Catholics in attendance. All and all, it was a great show. So, if you want a good time, some good music and a recipe for Boy Scout snacks, please take time and visit CLT and the nuns of Hoboken.
