"No Humbug Here!"

A review by Joe Monroe, II

There are some things that just go well together; for instance, milk and cookies, beer and pizza, and Actors Theatre and A Christmas Carol. I was blessed to join the cast and crew, along with my daughter, as they presented A Christmas Carol in its 33rd season. It was a sold-out crowd on a Sunday afternoon, a crowd looking forward to an enjoyable event, and that's exactly what we received.

Scrooge (William McNulty, left in both photos) confronts the ghosts of the season in Actors Theatre's newest rendering of the Dickens classic. Shown with Daphne Gaines (above) and Nick Cordileone (below).

There is no need to explain the plot of this show, because if you don't know the story of A Christmas Carol, you are probably not old enough to read this; or if you are and don't know the story, all the more reason to go see the show.

I like the adaptation by Barbara Fields as well as the direction of Sean Daniels. Their creative combo created an experience of a novel coming to life. Scrooge, played by William McNulty, definitely was one of the most memorable characters, but the most memorable facet of the show was the wonderful singing.

If you have not seen this show, don't wait for the 34th season; see it now, because the chemistry of this cast and crew will definitely give you a magical experience that gets you in the mood for the season.
