It is just refreshing to be able to go into a familiar place with familiar people and have an unfamiliar, yet refreshing experience. I was afforded this opportunity thanks to Lookingglass Theatre and Actor’s Theatre. Lookingglass Alice is a new and innovative twist to the traditional Alice in Wonderland. Lookingglass Alice first premiered in 2005 in Chicago at the Lookingglass Theatre. This show was developed in affiliation with the Actors Gymnasium Circus and Performing Arts School.

Lookingglass Alice had a fantastic cast. Not only did they have to know how to act, but they had to also be athletic. The tricks and stunts you will see in this show are amazing. Alice, played by Lindsay Whiting, on her journey to adulthood encounters many characters along the way. These interactions not only expand the storyline, but they will draw you into the show.

There is no sleeping in this show. You are always on the edge of your seat waiting to see what the next chess move will bring. And you aren't disappointed when the move is made because as I said previously the cast is fantastic. Adeoye, Kevin Douglas, Mitchell Fain, and Samuel Taylor rounded off the cast playing multiple roles. Every character was imaginative and the execution of the roles was flawless. Lookingglass Alice gives the audience an opportunity to experience our first crush, first party, first moment of sadness, and first learning experience in an hour thirty minutes of acting and acrobatics; and if I were you I wouldn’t want to be the first one to miss this show.
